Fabien Coche is a fourth-generation winemaker who succeeded his father Alain in 2005. From the vintage '20, the domain's name changed from Coche-Bizouard to Fabien Coche. The Coche family is very well known in Burgundy: Raphaël Coche-Dury is a cousin and the two domains were one until they were split in 1949.

Les Ecussaux (or Ecusseaux) is a small vineyard in the Côte de Beaune sub-region of Burgundy. The northernmost strip, higher up on the slope of Montagne du Bourdon, is classified as Auxey-Duresses Premier Cru. The lower section is classified as Auxey-Duresses AOC. Pinot noir and chardonnay are both grown in the Premier Cru area.

Les Ecussaux is a long, thin plot east of the village, sandwiched between the roads to Beaune and Meursault, whose junction forms the westernmost point. To the north are the Premier Crus Les Duresses and Bas des Duresses.
