Productinformation

Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard is a wine estate in Chassagne-Montrachet has about 12ha of vineyards spread over 22 different appellations. Largely divided between several Premier crus and Grand Crus in Chassagne-Montrachet. They also own small plots in other areas, including Volnay and Pommard.

The house is descended from the famous Gagnard family and is currently managed by Céline Fontaine and her family. Fontaine-Gagnard is best known for their white wines, which consequently comprise 75% of production. Céline likes to let things happen naturally in the cellar and vineyards, it is what it is and what it is, is good. The wines are elegant and sleek, often with beautiful floral character. The wines offer everything one looks for in Chassagne-Montrachet and more.

Le Montrachet is a renowned grand cru vineyard in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, acclaimed for its Chardonnay wines, considered the ultimate expression of the grape. The wines are generous, concentrated, the finesse, elegance and aromatic complexity will increase with age and then reveal its true power and potential.

Shaped like a rectangle, the vineyard covers 7.99ha and is divided between the villages of Puligny- and Chassagne-Montrachet. The southeast-facing slope with limestone-marl soil offers ideal sun exposure.

Le Montrachet is bordered by four other grand cru climates, all bearing the Montrachet name. On the Puligny side: Chevalier-Montrachet above it on the slope above it, Bienvenues- Bâtard-Montrachet below Bâtard -Montrachet (also part Chassagne, part Puligny). On the Chassagne side: so part of Batard below Montrachet and Criots- Bâtard at the southern tip.

Its history dates back to the 13th century! The presence of producers like Bouchard Père et Fils, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Domaine Leflaive and Joseph Drouhin - actually says it all.
