Domaine Creusefond is a relatively small family business based in Auxey-Duresses. Vincent is a third-generation winemaker who has partnered with his father Alain Creusefond since 2001. The estate covers just under 12ha (9,000 vines/ha) in the villages: Auxey-Duresses, Meursault, Monthelie, Beaune, Volnay and Pommard.
Domaine Creusefond produces wines with fantastic value for money. Alain believes the terroir should speak without too much embellishment. The percentage of wood depends on each cuvée but will not exceed 35%.
Climat du Val or Le Val is an 8.37ha Premier Cru vineyard planted mainly with Pinot Noir and a small amount of Chardonnay. The vineyard is located above the village of Auxey-Duresses on the south-facing slopes of the Mantagne de Bourdon overlooking Saint-Romain. The southern orientation, relatively low position on the slope and associated warmth give this vineyard its name (Climat du Val).
Climat du Val usually produces richer wines than Les Duresses, the village's largest Premier Cru.
