Productinformation
The family estate is located in the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet. Domaine Blain-Gagnard owns about 8 hectares, most of which are in Chassagne-Montrachet. The wines are exciting, refreshing and have wonderful balance. They are characteristic of the region and therefore an example for others to follow. Domaine Blain-Gagnard's wines are among the favourites of many wine lovers and ourselves. They are therefore highly sought after.
Due to the climate at the foot of the hill, the soil here is deeper than in the other grand crus. The pebbly limestone soils of Bâtard-Montrachet have a higher clay content, so drainage is not as effective as higher up the hill. However, the soil still allows contact between the vines' root system and the underlying limestone, which makes for healthy, strong vines and perhaps contributes to the subtle minerality of Bâtard-Montrachet wines.
