Productinformation

Domaine Jean-Noël Gagnard is currently managed by Caroline Lestimé, who also runs her négociant business alongside this domain. Domaine Jean-Noël Gagnard manages 9 hectares of vineyards, mainly in the Chassagne-Montrachet region. Caroline produces wine in the same way as her father, although we can see changes recently. In particular, the vineyards are worked in a biodynamic way. The wines have a classic character and have no formatting. The definition of a great Burgundy producer.

This 0.36-hectare vineyard is planted exclusively with Chardonnay. Located on a gentle southeastern slope at an altitude of 240-250 metres, the soil is well-drained and consists of clay-silt-limestone interspersed with broken stones. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2014 and follows biodynamic methods. During vinification, the grapes are sorted, pressed and allowed to rest for 24-48 hours. Primary and malolactic fermentation is carried out in used barrels at 18°C with ambient yeasts. The wine then ages for 18 months on lees in barrels, 80% of which are new. It is vinified with casein and lightly filtered if necessary. Bâtard-Montrachet, located in the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet, the third Grand Cru to bear the Montrachet name, is of historical importance in the global spread of Chardonnay. This plot adds to the mystique of this once barren hillside and continues the legacy of producing exceptional white wines.
