Productinformation
This small walled vineyard is entirely owned by Domaine Paul Pernot, making it a monopole. It is located in the northern part of the Beaune appellation, near Savigny-lès-Beaune. The vineyard lies halfway up the slope with an eastern to northeastern orientation, which provides gentle morning sun and even ripening.
The soil is poor and stony, with a thin top layer of limestone-rich clay, contributing finesse and minerality to the wine.
The wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir. Paul Pernot works in a traditional style, often using a portion of whole clusters during fermentation, which adds freshness and structure.
The wine is aged in small oak barrels, about 20% of which are new—used subtly to support the fruit without overpowering it.
This is an above-average quality village wine, once again showing that a well-managed, small, walled vineyard can produce wines of exceptional quality. Fresh and expressive red fruit with lovely spiciness and minerality, enhanced by whole-cluster complexity.
