Productinformation
Valmur is a 12.89ha grand cru vineyard and forms a wedge between Grenouilles and Les Clos grand cru vineyards. Here, it is not exposure but mesoclimate that makes the difference! The valley is enclosed with few air currents. This makes it like an oven in summer and, in addition, it can be exceptionally cold in winter because the air does not flow away.
The family cleared land near the forest edge in the 1950s and 1960s to plant their vines here. Today, with 2.6ha, the family is the largest owner in Valmur grand cru.
Basically, the soil is Valmur contains more clay than, say, Vaudésir grand cru, therefore less aromatic but with remarkable weight. But Marie-Ange's vineyards are high, here the soil is thin, making for wines with a lot of chalky, nervous energy.
