Productinformation
With the Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2019, Domaine Thibault-Liger Belair has proven its commitment to making excellent Burgundy wines. Owned by the Liger-Belair family since 1720, this domain has a rich history of 250 years. In 2001, Thibault joined the company and took over the vineyards, transforming the domain into the renowned Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair. Before that, Thibault studied vinification and oenology in the Beaujolais at the Moulin a Ven. He also worked for a communications company in Paris. In 2001, Thibault decided to follow his true vocation and start making his own wine.
0.75 hectares of vineyards, 40% of which were planted in 1992 and 60% in 1944. Thibault's plot is in the southern part of the appellation, at the corner of the wall separating Les Echézeaux from Clos-Vougeot, in the lieu dit of Les Baudes Basses.
The originality lies in the length of the rows, which extend over more than 200 metres over three different soil types:
- Gravelly soil with a high clay content
- Siliceous soil with a high red clay content, rich in iron oxide.
iron oxide - A finer clay-silt soil
In Burgundy, people often speak of a "rounded" cuvée because it contains all the soil types found in the appellation.
