Productinformation
Originating from the lieux-dits Les Mochamps and Les Fremières in Morey-Saint-Denis, this vineyard covers 0.60 hectares and is entirely planted with Pinot Noir, with vines dating back to 1964. The parcels are situated at around 280 metres above sea level with an eastern exposure, in the heart of the renowned Clos de la Roche, which extends southwards from the Grands Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin. The name Clos de la Roche aptly reflects the exceptionally limestone-rich soil, where only 5 to 30 centimetres of topsoil cover an abundance of stones and massive rocks — a terroir that imparts a striking mineral expression.
The vines are cultivated with great care, following integrated and biodynamically inspired practices, including green harvesting and entirely manual picking. In the cellar, vinification is carried out with precision, featuring a cold pre-fermentation maceration using either destemmed grapes or whole clusters, depending on the character of the vintage, followed by a vatting period of approximately fifteen days. The wine is then aged for 14 to 16 months in oak barrels, 40 to 50% of which are new.
In the glass, the wine is complex and powerful, displaying impressive intensity and depth. Aromas of red and black fruit are complemented by refined truffle notes, spicy accents and subtle roasted nuances. The structure is layered and precise, underpinned by a clear mineral tension that is characteristic of Morey-Saint-Denis. A wine of great elegance with excellent ageing potential of 10 to 20 years or more, destined to gain further depth and refinement over time.
