Productinformation
This wine comes from En Charlemagne in Pernand-Vergelesses and is produced exclusively from 100% Chardonnay, sourced from vines over 50 years old. The vineyard lies on the upper slopes of the Montagne de Corton, with steep gradients of 20 to 23%, offering a remarkable geological cross-section. The soils are composed of marly layers with varying colours and a high clay content, alternating with chalky banks, all covered by a thin layer of rendzina. This complex soil structure gives the wine its power, tension and pronounced minerality.
Vineyard management follows integrated pest management practices combined with non-certified biodynamic cultivation. After careful green harvesting, the grapes are hand-picked. Winemaking begins with the pressing of whole clusters, followed by a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels over approximately twenty days.
The wine is then matured for 14 to 16 months in barrels, with 30 to 40% new oak, adding structure and depth while preserving elegance. In the glass, this wine stands out for its extraordinary richness and concentration, while seducing with its refined, streamlined elegance. Its beautifully balanced structure ensures a long, pure finish. The bouquet is delicate and precise, revealing notes of citrus fruits, flint and subtle herbal tea tones, creating an impressive and harmonious whole.
