Productinformation
Aux Charmes Premier Cru is located in the northern part of Morey-Saint-Denis, directly on the border with Gevrey-Chambertin, at the foot of the Côte de Nuits. It is surrounded by, yet situated below, its renowned Grand Cru neighbours: Clos de la Roche to the west and Mazoyères-Chambertin to the north.
The narrow vineyard, covering just over one hectare, benefits from a favourable easterly exposure. The soils consist of sandy, limestone-rich layers derived from the same limestone formation as the higher vineyards, though with a looser structure. These well-drained, nutrient-poor soils naturally limit vigour and contribute to concentration.
Its position at the lower part of the slope gives the wine a more approachable character than the powerful Grand Crus above, without sacrificing precision or elegance. The result is a generous Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru that harmoniously combines ripe fruit, fresh acidity and subtle minerality, supported by an elegant structure and attractive ageing potential.
