Productinformation

This wine comes from Échezeaux du Dessus in Flagey-Échezeaux and is produced exclusively from 100% Pinot Noir, sourced from vines averaging around 50 years of age. The vineyard lies at approximately 280 metres above sea leveland rests on a clay-limestone soil over a Bajocian limestone slab. The soil is deep and composed of a complex mosaic of gravels, red alluvial deposits and yellowish marls, giving the wine depth, power and complexity.

Vineyard management follows integrated pest management practices combined with non-certified biodynamic cultivation. After careful green harvesting, the grapes are hand-picked. Winemaking begins with a cold pre-fermentation maceration, using either destemmed grapes or whole clusters, depending on the character of the vintage. The total vatting period lasts approximately fifteen days.

The wine is then matured for 14 to 16 months in oak barrels, with 40 to 50% new oak, adding structure and richness while preserving the expression of the terroir. In the glass, this Échezeaux displays power and full body, with elegant floral notes of rose and violet, complemented by subtle spicy hints. On the palate, it offers a frank and velvety attack, supported by silky tannins, leading to a rich, generous and fleshy finish.
