The vineyard is sandwiched between the Echézeaux and Clos de Vougeot vineyards just north of Vosne-Romanée. Although the name would suggest otherwise, this vineyard (9.1ha) is only a third of its eponymous neighbour.
The terroir in this vineyard consists of siliceous limestone with some clay and is well-draining, allowing the vines to develop deep roots which ensures high-quality fruit.
Grands-Echézeaux wines are solid and powerful, somewhat velvety and with elegant power.
