The 2021 vintage was an excellent year for white wines from the North Rhône. This blend of Marsanne (+/- 85%) and Rousanne (+/-15%) is time and again one of the appellation's best white wines. The mainly 100+ year-old vines of Les Rocoules are on a clay clay/lime/alluvial stony soil.
It is an unmissable step up in complexity and concentration, both aromatically and on the palate compared to Marc Sorrel's regular white Hermitages. This wine has tremendous storage potential and will positively evaluate itself for decades to come. Marc even believes this white Hermitage is more age-worthy than the red Hermitage, he only makes 5 barrels (125 cases) annually.
A powerful rich nose with a bouquet of sweet flowers, acacia, almond blossom and ripe tropical fruit with toasty and spicy undertones. On the palate, the wine comes rushing in immediately, broad and bold with a lovely minerality. The flavours are powerful and precise, as is the endless finish dominated by honeyed, floral and spicy flavours.
