Productinformation
The Moulin à Vent Les Vieilles Vignes cuvée is a blend of nine plots covering approximately seven hectares, or half of the Pierres Roses estate. The vineyards were planted between 1910 and 1955 and are situated in a strip around the Moulin à Vent hill. The north wind lends this wine great freshness. The soil is shallow and consists mainly of white and pink sand derived from the weathering of pink granite and quartz.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with 40% whole bunches. Fermentation lasts three weeks in open vats with very gentle extraction. The wine is aged for 15 months in oak barrels. 100% Gamay
It is a full-bodied wine with some spicy notes (pepper, thyme) and aromas of black fruit (blueberry) on the nose. On the palate, a surprising freshness emerges, derived from the granite soil, with good structure, enabling it to stand the test of time with ease.
