With the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru, Les Saint Georges, Domaine Thibault-Liger Belair has proven its commitment to making excellent Burgundy wines. Owned by the Liger-Belair family since 1720, this domain has a rich history of 250 years. In 2001, Thibault joined the company and took over the vineyards, turning the domain into the renowned Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair. Before that, Thibault studied vinification and oenology in the Beaujolais at the Moulin a Ven. He also worked for a communications company in Paris. In 2001, Thibault decided to follow his true vocation and start making his own wine.
2.05 hectares of vineyards planted in 1944. Located in the southern part of the appellation, Les Saint-Georges is considered one of the oldest climates, with vines dating back to the year 1000. At the end of the 19th century, the town of Nuits received permission to add the suffix Saint-Georges to the name of its most famous cru. The vines are planted on deep, highly siliceous brown limestone soils, which produce rich, structured wines ideal for ageing. 100% Pinot Noir.
