Les Suchots is the largest Premier Cru climat in Vosne-Romanée and enjoys an exceptional location, nestled between the prestigious Grand Cru vineyards of Echézeaux, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Richebourg. Together with Les Amoureuses, a Premier Cru in Chambolle-Musigny, it forms one of only two interruptions in the otherwise continuous line of Grand Cru vineyards along the Côte de Nuits between Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges.
The vineyard is entirely planted with Pinot Noir and is renowned for its consistently high quality, with parcels owned by some of the region’s most esteemed producers.
The terroir is characterized by a gentle easterly exposure, excellent drainage and marly clay soils, comparable to those of Echézeaux. Despite its official Premier Cru status, the wines of Les Suchots are often regarded as being among the very finest of the appellation and are widely seen as one of the most compelling candidates for promotion to Grand Cru.
The wines combine the finesse and elegance for which Vosne-Romanée is famed with depth, complexity and impressive ageing potential.
