Productinformation

This wine originates from the legendary Chevalier-Montrachet in Puligny-Montrachet and is produced exclusively from 100% Chardonnay, sourced from vines averaging around 60 years of age. The vineyard sits higher on the slope than Montrachet itself, at an altitude of between 270 and 290 metres, benefiting from an ideal east and south-facing exposure. The slope is steep and regular, with shallow, stony soils composed of light rendzinas based on marls and marly limestone. This highly calcareous terroir gives the wine its tension, precision and mineral backbone.

Vineyard management follows integrated pest management practices combined with non-certified biodynamic cultivation. After careful green harvesting, the grapes are hand-picked. Winemaking begins with the pressing of whole clusters, followed by a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels over approximately twenty days.

The wine is then matured for 14 to 16 months in barrels, with 40 to 50% new oak, adding structure and depth while preserving the purity of the terroir. In the glass, this true vin de garde displays a solid structure and remarkable aromatic finesse. Notes of dried apricot and a gentle moelleux are perfectly supported by a vibrant acidity, creating a harmonious and distinctly limestone-driven profile. Its aromatic expression and impressive length on the palate are outstanding, marking this Chevalier-Montrachet as a wine of great class and longevity.
