Productinformation

As a 22-year-old, Lorraine Senard Pereira took over the estate from her father in 2000. 2002 white was her first independent harvest, followed by the reds in 2005. Indeed, her wines do differ from those of her father, Philippe Senard. Today, those wines are markedly softer and more harmonious. Today, Comte Senard once again offers the ample assurance of a true high-class Burgundy. Lorraine Senard produces about six grands crus from the Corton hillside, of which the monopole Clos de Meix, with 1.64 ha, offers the highlight result.

Clos des Meix is a vineyard in the appellation Corton Grand Cru in the Cote de Beaune sub-region of Burgundy. This walled site is located on the lower southern slopes of the Montagne de Corton, just outside the village of Aloxe-Corton. The vineyard is a 'monopole' - owned and managed by one producer - in this case Comte Senard. The walled estate of 2.7 hectares is located directly southwest of the village of Aloxe-Corton. Classic Corton red wines are rich and relatively tannic, meaning they are quite austere when young but develop well with age.
