Productinformation
The Côte-Rôtie "Trio de Brune" is a refined expression of 100% Syrah, crafted from grapes sourced from three prestigious lieux-dits at the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation: Le Fongeant, La Brocarde and Côte Bodin. The vineyards are planted on steep slopes and trained using the traditional échalas system, where each vine is supported by an individual wooden stake. The soils consist of mica schist, renowned for its excellent drainage and its ability to produce wines of finesse, tension and remarkable mineral depth. All grapes are harvested by hand.
After harvest, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks, with 15 to 20% whole clusters included to enhance complexity, freshness and spicy character. Prior to fermentation, the must undergoes a 24-hour cold maceration, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature of 28–30°C. Gentle pump-overs (remontage) are carried out twice daily to achieve a precise extraction of colour, aromas and fine tannins.
Each of the three vineyard parcels is vinified separately and aged for 24 months in 228-litre Saury French oak barriques that are two to three years old. The individual wines are blended only shortly before bottling, creating a harmonious final cuvée.
Each vineyard contributes its own distinctive character to the blend: Le Fongeant brings juicy fruit and vibrancy, La Brocarde contributes elegance and finesse, while Côte Bodin provides structure, depth and power. The result is a Côte-Rôtie of remarkable aromatic intensity, revealing layers of ripe black fruit, violets, black pepper and subtle oak nuances. Generous and concentrated yet beautifully fresh and refined, it embodies the elegance for which great Côte-Rôtie is renowned. Already highly enjoyable in its youth, it also possesses outstanding ageing potential.
