Productinformation
Originating from the prestigious Grand Maupertuis vineyard in Vougeot, this 0.50-hectare plot is entirely planted with Pinot Noir, dating back to 1982. The vineyard is situated at around 260 metres above sea level, at the upper part of the Clos, on relatively shallow soil of 30 to 40 centimetres. The terrain is grainy, with abundant gravel over a Bajocian limestone slab, contributing to the wine’s finesse and mineral expression.
The vines are carefully cultivated following integrated and biodynamically inspired practices, including green harvesting and manual picking. In the cellar, vinification is precise, with a cold pre-fermentation maceration of destemmed grapes or whole clusters, adapted to the character of the vintage, followed by a vatting period of around fifteen days. The wine is then aged for 14 to 16 months in oak barrels, 40 to 50% of which are new.
In the glass, the wine shows harmony and balance, with impressive length and aromatic complexity. Notes of small dark fruits such as blackberry, morello cherry, and blackcurrant are complemented by floral hints of violet and rose. The finish is elegantly spicy with a subtle touch of liquorice. This wine has excellent ageing potential of 10 to 20 years, and can even continue to develop beyond that.
