Productinformation

This Côte de Nuits Villages Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Michèle et Patrice Rion comes from vineyards in the village of Comblanchien, located in the southern part of the Côte de Nuits. The soil consists of limestone-rich, sandy terrain with an abundance of small stones, contributing to the wine's finesse and freshness. The vines are approximately 45 years old and, with yields of 35 to 45 hectolitres per hectare, produce grapes of excellent quality and concentration. Annual production is around 6,000 bottles.

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and then carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place in open stainless steel tanks and lasts approximately three weeks. The wine is subsequently aged for 15 to 16 months in oak barrels, with only 5% new oak. This restrained use of oak adds structure and complexity without overpowering the refined fruit character and natural freshness of the wine.

In the glass, the wine displays a deep, vibrant purplish-red colour. The nose is dominated by aromas of small red berries, particularly raspberries and sour cherries. The palate is supple and elegant, with rounded tannins, a silky texture and refreshing vibrancy.
