Productinformation
The IGP Syrah is a pure expression of 100% Syrah, sourced from several vineyard parcels in the lieu-dit Grange Basse, just south of the Côte-Rôtie appellation boundary in the commune of Tupin-et-Semons. The trellised vineyards are planted on decomposed granite soils with a high mineral content, giving the wine its characteristic tension and refined minerality. All grapes are harvested by hand to ensure that only perfectly ripe fruit is selected.
After harvest, the grapes are fully destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Before fermentation, the must undergoes a 24-hour cold maceration, enhancing the extraction of colour, aromas and fruit expression. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 28–30°C, with gentle pump-overs (remontage) carried out twice daily to achieve a refined extraction of colour, aromas and tannins.
The wine is then aged for 8 to 10 months in 228-litre Saury French oak barriques, adding complexity and structure while allowing the purity of the fruit to remain at the forefront.
The result is an elegant and aromatic Syrah with intense notes of blackberries, blackcurrants, bramble and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine offers a silky texture, ripe and refined tannins, and a fresh, peppery finish. While already highly approachable in its youth, it possesses the structure and balance to develop further complexity with several years of bottle ageing.
