Domaine Ventoura is a family-owned estate in Fontenay-près-Chablis with 11 hectares of Petit Chablis, Chablis, and Chablis Premier Cru vineyards. Founded by Auguste, a modest farmer who planted his first vines in 1953, the domaine was expanded by his son Claude to its current size. For 25 years, the grapes were sold to a local cooperative, before the family chose to bottle their own wines to fully express their terroirs.
Through generations, the family has developed deep knowledge of their Portlandian and Kimmeridgian soils, which give the wines their characteristic minerality. Respect for the land, combined with independence and investment in modern equipment, defines their approach.
Today, Thomas, the third generation, leads the domaine. After initially pursuing a technical career elsewhere, he returned to study viticulture and winemaking. His philosophy centers on hard work, experimentation, and a continuous effort to showcase the richness and complexity of the estate’s terroirs.
